As a network consultant, I am always looking for great ways to document my clients network. One the best toolkits I have used in a long time, besides Karl Palachuck’s network documentation workbook is something called SYDI (Script Your Documentation Instantly).

At the most basic level SYDI consists of a collection of scripts which collects information from your servers and networks, then writes the data to a report. It automatically creates a word document with information about the server. Although this is a very simple tool, its one of the most powerful that I have ever seen.
