Recently I have been using Virtualization a lot more and whilst I am still undecided whether to go down the VMWARE or Microsoft (Hyper-V) route, when I started, I used VMWARE quite a lot. I have a huge amount of machines built and configured using VMWARE, and so I have been looking for a way to convert the VMWARE (VMDK) files to a Hyper-V (VHD) without using the Microsoft’s System Center Virtual Machine Manager. That way I will have machines in both platforms which are configured exactly the same way.
So I was scouring the internet tonight and came up with a brilliant tool that seems to do a very nice job. The tool can be obtained by visiting the VM Toolkit site . They have a bunch of other useful information as well. To download the file go to http://vmtoolkit.com/files/default.aspx.
